African Rural and Urban Studies is a multidisciplinary journal published three times a year in association with the MSU Press at Michigan University. (It succeeds two MSU journals --African Urban Studies and Rural Africana--previously published by the African Studies Center.)

 

     

African Rural and Urban Studies focuses on contemporary rural and urban Africa including:
    Urban society, urbanization, urban and regional planning, and the urban institutions of the world's most rapidly urbanizing continent.

    Rural Africa, the rural society and economy, agriculture, and the institutions of the world's most rural continent.

Northeast African Studies is the major North American academic journal concerning the Horn of Africa. This is a new series published three times a year by Michigan State University Press and sponsored by the African Studies Center's Northeast African Studies Committee.

 


Northeast African Studies consists of scholarly articles and reviews as well as items of general political interest on Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, and northern Kenya.

The Center publishes numerous monographs and scholarly books, including the following series: The African Language Publication Series, the Northeast African Studies Series, Resources for Teaching about Africa, and the African Monograph Series.

The Center publishes a weekly Tuesday Bulletin, announcing Africa-related events and opportunities at MSU. It also publishes the African Studies Center Newsletter, a semi-annual summary report of the activities and accomplishments of the Center, its faculty and students.

The Center collaborates with the MSU Women and International Development (WID) program to publish an African Women in International Development Occasional Paper Series. WID publishes a series of working papers on a variety of related subjects.

The Department of Agricultural Economics publishes a series of working papers on African rural economy--the International Development Papers.

Various MSU Press books concerning Africa and Black Studies.

Africana: Select Recent Acquisitions
is published quarterly by the Africana Library.
