Remembering Kimberly Rosario Perez

It is our great regret to officially inform you that our beloved sister, Kimberly Rosario Perez, has passed away in a vehicle accident in Accra, Ghana, on Monday afternoon, August 14, 2006.

Kim was in Ghana on a few days break from her intensive Ph.D. dissertation research in Northern Nigeria.

As Kim's older brothers, all we can write is this: Our sister was beautiful. Our sister was brave. She was smart. She was passionate. She had an iron will. She had limitless resources of hope, stamina and optimism. In her short thirty years, she has managed to cram at least three times that much in life experience. We admire her. We are proud of her. We love her. We miss her.

As overwhelmed as we are by shock and grief, we are equally overjoyed with the unexpected outpouring of condolences, support and love. Every phone call, every email we've received has paradoxically saddened AND lifted us.

Her funeral was held In San Diego on September 2, a memorial gathering was held in Baltimore in August, and a Memorial Celebrating the Life of Kimberly Rosario Perez was held at Michigan State University on October 6.

This website is created to continue to remember and celebrate Kim, her person, her life, and her unique approach to humanity in the years ahead when we must walk our paths without her beside us.
