Kim received her Bachelor of Arts in American Studies at Santa Cruz in June 1998 after a full undergraduate experience at this leading institution.

- Assisted Philippines Program Director and attended planning meetings; edited and produced Philippine News Survey
- Monitored Congressional Hearings and reported back to APCPJ

- University-wide elected officer position responsible for organizing local, state, and national student lobbying around financial aid, affirmative action, and other educational issues
- Initiated campus petition drives, voter registration, legislative informational sessions, and demonstrations
- Residential Assistant, Asian Pacific Islander Theme Hall Merrill College at UCSC, 7/95-6/96
- Organized Asian Pacific Islander cultural awareness events for Merrill College's 400 residents
- Educational Rights Coordinator, Asian Pacific Islander Student Association, 7/95-6/96, Santa Cruz, CA
- Oversaw committee organization of University Motivational Conference bringing 50 high school students from Asian-American immigrant communities
- Disseminated information and organized within Asian American student population regarding educational and political issues
