Giving to Honor and Continue the Passions of Kimberly Rosario Perez

"I only hope my actions will be beneficial to the empowerment of marginalized communities."
- from Kim's journal, November 2004

"The Kimberly R. Perez Fund" has been created at Michigan State University to further the values and priorities that Kim embodied in her life.

The funds will be used primarily to support research by a graduate student in the social sciences studying Africa in fields related to Kim's interests of gender, religion, ethnicity, and governance.

Depending on the amount of funding received, a some funds will be available to provide support each year for several years for one or more students in particular need both (a) at Bayero University in Nigeria where she studied and (b) in the Department of Sociology and African Studies Center at Michigan State. Special attention will be given to women candidates.
