Kim's Research Plans
In 2003, Kim planned to conduct a comparative political science study in the politics of migration from poverty in South Africa and Central America.

In 2004-05 Kim changed her directions, moved to sociology as a discipline, and decided to focus more on political sociology of change in Islamic West Africa. She also increased her study of women and gender issues in development and on the impact of religion - and began to intensively study Hausa language for research in Northern Nigeria.
