Statement from David Sussman for Memorial Service for Kim
in Baltimore, MD on September 2, 2006
I am privileged to have had the chance to share part of this life with Kim. She was and remains a wonderful spirit. While saddened by her passing I am also buoyed by such a wide range of wonderful memories that she provided, often punctuated by her ebullient laugh and great smile. She was so very much:
- A scholar and extremely hard worker, and the most resilient and determined person I have known.
- A passionate dancer, who did not tire of moving to the rhythm of the music, or following the beat of her own drum.
- An explorer, ready to head off to Latin America or Africa to discover a new country and culture.
- An open heart, with the power to find forgiveness when necessary and willing to put herself out there to help others.
- A fearless athlete, an attribute she also brought to the questions that she asked of us all.
- A deep thinker, who considered the inequity of the world and did her part to make a difference.
Kim continued to explore and lead life to the fullest, and found joy in following her path and fulfilling her dreams. While I know that we must say goodbye to her now, we will keep what we can - all of the special memories of our times together, her final gift to us all in the years ahead.
