MSU Directories and Databases

The MSU African Studies Center has produced directories of films and videos about Africa, African scholarly journals online, and higher education in Africa. Other MSU units have produced directories on Africa focused on food security and on women. Two MSU directories to international and business web resources also have valuable content about Africa.

African Media Program
A database of more than 13,000 films, videos, and other audio-visual materials about Africa, many with reviews by Africanist faculty and graduate students. Especially useful to teachers for introducing Africa to students. By MSU African Studies Center with MATRIX.
South Africa Film and Video Project
A project uses the Internet to build the database of South African film and video productions and to digitize select holdings of South African partners for deposit in the MSU Library and South African institutions. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education Program for Technological Innovation and Cooperation for Foreign Information Access.  By MSU African Studies Center and MATRIX.

Resources on South African Higher Education

South Africa-U.S. Higher Education Partnerships Project
A database of more than 200 partnerships between U.S. and South African higher education institutions and related information about partnerships. By MSU African Studies Center, originally for the Higher Education Forum of the U.S.-South Africa Bi-National Commission.
African Activist Archive
Preserving the history of U.S. activism to support the struggle for freedom in Africa from 1950-1994, particularly in local communities. By MSU African Studies Center and Richard Knight.
African e-Journals Project
Database of more than 2,000 journals concerning Africa, with full-text back issues of 11 African scholarly journals and tables of contents of many others. By MSU African Studies Center and Libraries, with MATRIX, Association of African Universities, and African Studies Association.
Food Security and Food Policy Information Portal for Africa
Web resources to assist African food security and food policy researchers with information about specific countries and regions plus on-line tutorials. Women & International Development African Internet Resource Guide
